Musing by Giffords' Fireside (d.1903) John Young Hunter Watercolour on paper 24 x 18 in 61 x 45.5 cm Inscribed bottom right, 'JY Hunter, 1903' The present watercolour, which does not retain its original title, confirms the close artistic relationship between John and Mary Young Hunter. In some ways more typical of Mary Young Hunter in its subject matter, it clearly illustrates their consonance of style c. 1903-5, and the inspiration given to them by their immediate surroundings at Giffords Hall. |
